Astronomy

Quadrant

What is it?

An object that measures the position of all objects in space according to specific celestial coordinates.

Why is it Used?

Ancient Astronomers noticed the stars never changed position relative to each other, they assumed they could map the stars because of this.

What does it look like?

A heldheld device with a peephole.

You look through the hole to look at the stars and the string will dangle down.

The angle shown where the string falls is the height/altitude of the object being looked at.
